It’s been a great summer meeting many fantastic locals and visitors to our town. There have been so many great photos of dogs, families, and even a few folks wanting a photo to celebrate their shared birthday!

I have had the privilege to take photographs on 10 market dates throughout the market season at the Bobcaygeon Farmer’s Market, located at the Bobcaygeon Fairgrounds, in town Bobcaygeon, Kawartha Lakes.

Plus, I was excited to spend a full weekend as a vendor at the Dog Days of Summer, fundraiser event hosted by Tails and Traills at the Kawartha Winery, which benefited Snowflake Meadows, a local dog rescue.

We lucked out and had fantastic weather for most of the market dates, and truly enjoyed soaking up the friendly atmosphere, meeting new people and enjoying the company of the other vendors.

The photo booth set up gave me a chance to meet people, and let them know that I am a photographer in the area and let them know that I will love to take their photographs! As the set up is not the same as in my studio, this gives each image a fun vibe, sometimes a little ruffle of wind in their hair…. with folks taking advantage of the opportunity and accepting the invitation to be photographed!

Many dogs (and some people) have readily donned the props and posed with brightly coloured backgrounds, wearing a crown of flowers or sparkling crystals. It was a great way to introduce people to pet photography. Feedback was often….. “I just never thought to get my dog’s portrait done”, or “this was way more fun that I expected it to be!”

People came away with a 4x6” photograph, printed on the spot, and sometimes upgraded to a desktop photo frame. For each print purchased, they received a digital copy of the same, so that will be able to keep it with them on their phone photo collection, or add it to their screen savers on their computer.

They saw samples of larger prints in frames and canvases before placing their order, which was ready for pick up at a later market date.

The theme for the last market date is ‘Fall Cozy Colours”, with brand new dog bandanas with fall-inspired designs, new images on notecards, postcards of Bobcaygeon, all available to purchase.
